The LES MILLS® System includes world-class pre-choreograhed programs refreshed each quarter, comprehensive instructor training, access to management tools and resources, as well as award-winning marketing materials to help you attract and retain more members. To become a LES MILLS® licensed facility get in touch with Les Mills West Coast now or fill in the SIGN UP NOW form and we’ll contact you.
Once you have signed a licensing agreement it typically takes about 60 - 90 days to get the programs up and running in your facility. You'll work with one of our Customer Experience Managers to help promote the programs to your members, get your instructors trained and give them time to learn the choreography and you and your team prepare for launch.
There is a monthly licensing fee associated with running LES MILLS® programs at your facility and the cost will vary based on the number of programs you take on. Get in touch with Les Mills West Coast to find out how much monthly licensing fees will be for your facility.
Once you sign up to take on your LES MILLS® program(s) you will pay a deposit of your first month’s license fee. Monthly billing will start on the date that you and your Business Consultant agree when you sign your LES MILLS® agreement.
Instructors need to be trained and certified to deliver the LES MILLS® programs. There is a cost involved and some facilities choose to pay on behalf of their instructors. See What does it cost to become a Les Mills instructor? for more info
The number of barbells / steps / cycles that you require will depend on your studio size. For all LES MILLS® programs (other than RPM®) we advise allowing 43 ft² (4 m²) per person. For RPM® we suggest allowing a space of 21 ft² (2 m²) per bike. These recommendations will make a class comfortable but enable you to always squeeze a few more in, if necessary.
BODYPUMP® and LES MILLS GRIT™SERIES - Les Mills recommends using the LES MILLS SMARTBAR™, the latest revolution in barbell equipment. The LES MILLS SMARTBAR™ is a great addition to your facility, as the innovative design allows it to be used for Group Fitness, Small Group Training and Personal Training. To become a certified LES MILLS® instructor, you'll need to successfully complete a 2-day initial training module and assessment for each program you're going to teach. Yes! One of the great things about LES MILLS® programs is that, as they are pre-choreographed, you’re not limited only to instructors who are able to can create their own choreography to music. This, coupled with our world-renowned instructor training, makes securing a full team of star instructors simple.
By partnering with Les Mills you’ll be able to grow your membership base through member referral and Group Fitness events.
Research indicates that improving the average number of visits per week a member makes by just one will lead to a 3% increase in a facility’s retention rate. Research commissioned by IHRSA and undertaken by American Sports Data shows that on average freestyle Group Fitness participants attended approximately 0.9 times per week. Research commissioned by Les Mills shows that on average LES MILLS™ Group Fitness participants attend 3.4 times per week. With this in mind, it’s clear that members attending LES MILLS® programs are more likely to stay with you for longer.
13. We are not a health club but are still interested in offering LES MILLS® programs at our facility, is this possible?
Yes! As all LES MILLS® programs are provided via a licensing agreement they can be (and are currently being) run at a range of facilities including YMCAs, colleges and universities, wellness centers, spas, military bases and churches.
